In our world today, we focus on each other’s wants and feelings toward other people to make sure we do not anger anyone. This idea, thought process, is now pushed onto our dogs which now can create bad behaviors and habits at home. Dogs are like forever 3-4 year old kids, they will always keep pushing to do what they want instead of doing what is needed to live well in our world. More times than none, this means we are pushing our emotions onto our dogs instead of trying to understand what are dogs are thinking and are doing. Instead, we need to sometimes tell our dogs "no" and show them what the right action should be done. This may sound mean in some people’s eyes, but think about this; most of these badly behaved dogs are either kept at home where they do not get any exposure to the rest of the world, or does go out and cause damage to other humans and dogs. Doesn’t that sound worse than teach your dog better behaviors so they can see the world? Wouldn’t you rather have a well behaved dog so you are able to take them to more places with you? When you are able to expose your dogs to more things, this will only create better behaved dogs because they get more exposure to the world, see more things, and understand what it means to behave well. If we all claim to love our dogs so much, wouldn’t you like your dog have a more fulfilling life where they are able to come with us to more places? Please, let us all think about the greater good of these four legged friends and push ourselves to teach our best friends to behave well so they are able to be exposed to more things which in turn stimulate their minds more.
